Northern Tanzania

Duration: Full day

Overview

Deep in northern Tanzania, near the shores of Lake Eyasi, the Hadzabe people live much as their ancestors did thousands of years ago. They are one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa. Their way of life is rooted in the rhythm of the land. They rely on hunting with handmade bows and foraging for wild berries, honey, and tubers. The Hadzabe speak a unique click language and live without permanent settlements, moving with the seasons and their food sources.

Visiting the Hadzabe is a rare and respectful cultural exchange. This is not a performance. It is a genuine invitation to walk alongside them for a day. You’ll learn how they track animals, make fire using sticks, and craft tools from nature. Their knowledge of the land is unmatched. Time spent with them is eye-opening and deeply humbling. It offers a glimpse into a world far removed from modern life, yet fully alive in tradition and connection to nature.

The Experience

The experience begins early in the morning when you join a small group of Hadzabe hunters on a real hunt. You follow them through the bush as they track and stalk game with astonishing skill and silence. After the hunt, you may share a simple meal, sit around a fire, and hear their stories. It’s immersive, raw, and respectful. A true window into one of the oldest living cultures on earth.
