How we give back to the community
Travel World Safaris is a supporter of the Game Rangers’ Association of Africa (GRAA).
We contribute funding to a 3-year Ranger Protect Benefits Policy (including the Rangers GRAA Membership fees for the period). Rangers are engaged in a relentless war for the protection and survival of our wildlife. These men and women are unsung heroes, working tirelessly in extremely harsh conditions; their bravery and successes often go unreported and unrecognized.

Game Reserves, Safari Lodges, and wilderness destinations are our valued partners in the tourism industry and regions we serve. We recognize our responsibility in the preservation of our natural resources. We are very conscious of the difficult and dangerous conditions that the diligent yet under-resourced Game Rangers face daily. Well-armed and resourced poachers and militia groups brutally massacre Africa’s rhino and elephant populations, due to demand from Vietnam and China.
Rangers are engaged in a relentless war for the protection and survival of these magnificent creatures, pitted against poachers (and their principals) who have little regard for anyone standing in the way of their bloody slaughter for a horn, tusk, or scale – the critically endangered Pangolin is another ruthlessly exploited and trafficked species.
We have committed to doing what we can to change that.
Over 1000 rangers have lost their lives in the line of duty over the past 10 years.
Quite simply, for every confirmed Leisure Booking we contribute premiums towards a 3-year Ranger Protect Policy (Life & Benefits Cover) to the GRAA. Additionally, we cover the ranger’s annual membership fees to the GRAA for the term of the policy. We do this at no cost to our clients. Should our clients wish to get involved, they can choose to match our contribution on a voluntary basis – every single cent helps and is so greatly appreciated! In this way, we are able to boost the number of rangers covered by these policies.
This is a wonderful way of contributing to a balanced conservation initiative that strives to serve both the people and wildlife of Africa and goes a long way toward ensuring future tourism to our beautiful continent. We also always offer the GRAA seats on our empty-sector flights, where possible, for the benefit of their members.
The Ranger Protect Policy helps to ensure the well-being of GRAA Rangers and their families through the provision of adequate insurance coverage in the event of injury or death. It goes without saying that these dedicated men and women operate in extreme environments, and continuously face the risks associated with wild animals, sickness, community backlash, and the increasing threat of armed poachers.
The cover is currently available for Rangers in South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Mozambique, Angola, Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda – with plans to introduce it to more territories in time.
